Why Add Massage Therapy to Your life?

Did you know one of the reasons you feel so sore after a car crash isn’t just because of its impact? It's also due to the way your muscles brace for it. When you know something is going to hurt, your muscles tense up protectively in anticipation. On a smaller scale that’s something we all do every single day. Whether it’s bracing for an anxious part of our work day or tensing up while stress cleaning our house. We all hold and store stress in our bodies and that adds up. This is why consistent bodywork like massage therapy, yoga, stretching, exercise, and more are so important to living a healthy life and relieving muscle tension.
Movement, hydration, nutrition, less stress, and more blood flow are the five most important components of releasing tense muscles from the hold patterns they get stuck in. Massage therapy is a great way to accomplish at least three out of the five. It gets more movement and blood flow into your muscles without you having to do too much work yourself (hence the relaxation aspect of it). Instead, the massage therapist does all of the work during your session. Their hands act like flashlights for your body, illuminating the sore muscle knots your body needs to heal. So if you are in want or need of a relaxing way to relieve your pain, you should definitely book a session with Remedy Massage. For more info:

Why I Chose Massage Therapy

I have been a licensed massage therapist for about 3 years now, performing on average 17 hours of active massage per week. That adds up to around 2,652 hours of experience so far, give or take, considering leap years, holidays, vacations, etc. One of the first and most asked questions I get from clients is “Why did you choose to be a massage therapist?” Let’s not sugarcoat it, massage therapy is an extremely strenuous job so I understand the curiosity and bewilderment behind the question. I tried the traditional four-year college route but found myself floundering in my second year for a sense of direction. Massage therapy became an interest at that point, then an experiment, and finally a lifeline. What drew me to it was the ability to heal people with my own two hands. It amazed me to learn just how important and powerful physical touch is to our development and ability to thrive. Touch is so important to our healing process as human beings whether it’s a warm hug from a loved one after a stressful day or small circles on someone’s back to bring down their anxiety, touch is comforting and essential in our lives. I hope I can raise awareness for this very underrated form of medicine through the level of care that I give to my clients hence the name I chose for my practice: Remedy Massage.
About Me

I was born and raised in Kansas City as one of the last 90’s babies. When I’m not massaging, I enjoy reading, writing, having a good laugh with friends, and watching my favorite Netflix shows. I am also very outdoorsy and enjoy walking along the Trolley Track Trail and Loose Park. I am a huge foodie! Barbeque and pizza sauce run in my veins (JK!) but I do really enjoy eating food from JackStack, Q39, Minsky’s, and Waldo Pizza. If I left out your favorite BBQ or pizza spot don’t come for me because there are so many good ones! I may or may not have a latte addiction thanks to Crows Coffee and Headrush Roasters. If I were to pick a spirit animal it would have to be a turtle because I like to bring a piece of home with me wherever I go. Family has always been important to me since there are so many of us here! I’m talking 50+ of us running around this city. Holiday gatherings are the best and are full of equal parts chaos and fun. If you have made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read all of this. I almost didn’t include an “about me” section because I didn’t know if it was something people would want to read. Ultimately, I decided it was relevant to put this here for those wanting to know more about me on a professional and somewhat personal level to judge if I would be a good fit for them as a massage therapist. It’s important to get good vibes from the therapist who will be giving your massage so if you vibed with me over the screen you should definitely:
